A Pune-based biology lecturer, Manisha Gurunath Mandhare, has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation for her alleged involvement in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. The lecturer, long associated with a noted Pune college, is under scrutiny for reportedly sharing examination questions with select candidates.
Mandhare, who was part of the National Testing Agency's committee for the May 3 examination, allegedly used her position to mobilize candidates and provide them with leaked questions in exchange for substantial fees. This development has triggered a strong response from the college, which condemned the alleged actions and initiated an inquiry under Maharashtra educational regulations.
The ramifications of this breach extend nationwide, with nearly 23 lakh students having registered for the exam. As the investigation unfolds, a re-examination is scheduled for June 21, with the authorities tightening security protocols to prevent any recurrence.
