The management at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) in Indore announced on Monday that they would impose a fine of Rs 25,000 on at least 50 engineering students. These students allegedly engaged in vandalism and unruly behaviour at a hostel while in a semi-nude and inebriated state.

DAVV Vice-Chancellor Rakesh Singhai stated that university property suffered significant damage during the incident, prompting the fine. Examination results for those involved have been withheld until the completion of an inquiry. The affected students have been ordered to vacate the hostel, and their parents have been called in for discussions.

The incident at the university's hostel came to light after videos circulated on social media, revealing BTech students from the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) causing chaos. These videos showed students dancing and damaging property, including plastic chairs and a water tank.
