The Himachal Pradesh government is making concerted efforts to position the state as a frontrunner in technical education and skill development, according to Minister Rajesh Dharmani. Speaking at a review meeting, Dharmani emphasized the government's focus on empowering young people as job-creators instead of job-seekers.
The current administration has introduced initiatives aimed at showcasing the innovative skills of the state's youth. These include establishing a robust ecosystem for micro and small enterprises and collaborating with 120 experts from the Industries Department to provide mentorship. Additionally, technical training now includes Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology modules.
The state is also targeting specific sectors like horticulture, natural farming, and dairy technology by incorporating them into curricula. Trainees from the Industrial Training Institutes have already achieved tangible results by improving local infrastructure, such as street lighting in Mandi. Future plans involve establishing a Skill Academy and a Digital University to further raise educational standards.
