Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has agreed to prolong hostel accommodations for its final-year Master's students until June 30. This decision was made after student requests for continued housing support before the upcoming University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET).

In an announcement issued on Friday by the Dean of Students' office, the extension is described as a special measure. It will be granted to students based on specific conditions outlined by the university. The extension process involves evaluation by the Senior Wardens of individual hostels.

Students who wish to remain in the hostels must apply as guests and include an obligatory undertaking. They are also required to pay all due hostel charges before their extension is considered. Additionally, they are responsible for paying mess charges in advance based on the previous month's billing with a ten percent increment.

JNU has made it clear that this arrangement will not be extended beyond June 30 and should not be viewed as a permanent policy for future school years. The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union has welcomed this development and remains available to aid students encountering challenges in securing extended stays.
