The Tamil Nadu administration has mandated that all private schools in the state must prominently display their government-fixed tuition fees on notice boards. This measure comes as a response to frequent grievances from parents about schools demanding excessive fees beyond approved limits.
A representative from the School Education Department noted that with the reopening of schools on June 4, any private institution found charging more than the established fee will face cancellation of their recognition. Authorities stressed that over 13,000 private schools in Tamil Nadu must adhere strictly, avoiding any concealed charges from parents. This initiative is supported by the state's regulatory framework under the Tamil Nadu Schools (Regulation of Collection of Fee) Amendment Act, which also empowers a committee to determine standard fees. Parents suspecting exorbitant fee collections are encouraged to report such practices.
