During a diplomatic engagement that highlighted India's rich cultural heritage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented an exquisite Kashmiri silk carpet to Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides. The carpet, known for its traditional vine and geometric patterns, stands out due to its stunning two-tone effect which mimics a change in colors under different lighting conditions, embodying Kashmir's celebrated artisanal skills.

In addition to the carpet, a silver clutch purse was gifted to First Lady Philippa Karsera, crafted in Andhra Pradesh using the repousse technique. The purse, adorned with intricate floral patterns and a semi-precious stone, represents a blend of traditional design and contemporary utility. This elegant piece reflects India's artisanal heritage and evolving craft aesthetic.

Strengthening bilateral ties, PM Modi was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, the highest civilian honor in Cyprus. In his acceptance, Modi emphasized the strong cultural and diplomatic bonds between the two nations, reaffirming commitments to peace and mutual prosperity. The visit marks a significant milestone, as it is the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Cyprus in over two decades.
