Delhi's government is gearing up for a city-wide initiative to tackle drug abuse, coinciding with International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26. The campaign, spearheaded by Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh, will see a blend of awareness drives, street plays, and student involvement.
According to an official statement, the multi-department campaign draws support from social welfare, police, and education sectors, focusing on marginalised communities. Sixty-four hotspots will be targeted for street performances that articulate the dangers of drug misuse.
Minister Singh emphasized a comprehensive approach involving schools, civil society, and voluntary bodies, stating, 'This is not just a campaign, it's a social movement.' The plan includes student participation from the National Service Scheme and National Cadet Corps for grassroots outreach.
