The bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk are set to become even more vibrant with the introduction of 'Khao Gali,' a novel night market initiative by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). This concept, focused around Salimgarh Fort, will feature colorful food trucks serving up culinary delights each evening.
Unlike traditional setups, there will be no permanent stalls at this market. Instead, visitors will be treated to a variety of mobile vans bathed in hues of red, blue, and yellow, offering delicious street food from 6 pm to 10 pm. A maximum of 30 trucks will be allowed each night, with vendors rotating daily to ensure a diverse range of options.
Initially, the initiative sought participation from local vendors with Certificates of Vending. However, due to a lackluster response, the MCD broadened its application to include mobile food truck operators. Plans for the market include creating a welcoming atmosphere with essential amenities and vibrant lighting, and it is set to launch in phases, with the first phase expected to start by July.
