India is gearing up for a massive celebration of the International Day of Yoga, set to unfold in 1,300 cities across the globe this Saturday. The event marks a decade of yoga's international recognition, with the Indian High Commission in Pakistan hosting activities in Islamabad. According to the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), the initiative aims to showcase India's ancient tradition and strengthen its soft power.

ICC's Director General K Nandini Singla stated that yoga events are scheduled in 191 countries, with more than 2,000 activities planned. The 'Yoga Bandhan' event will feature 17 yoga gurus from 15 countries, symbolizing unity between India and the wider world. This year's theme, 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' aligns with India's vision of 'One Earth, One Family, One Future' as articulated during its G20 presidency.

Preparations have been underway for months, including countdown initiatives and special events organized by Indian embassies globally. ICCR's efforts underscore the burgeoning popularity of yoga, with notable figures and officials worldwide embracing it for health and stress relief. Yoga, once an Indian tradition, has evolved into a global movement.
