Maharashtra came alive on International Yoga Day as thousands of residents unfurled their mats at iconic locations such as the Gateway of India and Marine Drive. People from all walks of life, including politicians, participated in the day's events, celebrating the ancient practice of yoga.
Massive gatherings were organized in various parts of the state, with 10,000 participants at an event in Uran, Navi Mumbai by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority. This session marked one of the largest celebrations in India. Historical sites and public spaces across Maharashtra, from Buldhana's Gaimukh Temple to Pune Metro stations, hosted yoga enthusiasts.
Political figures were prominently visible at different events. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde took part in sessions in Pune and Marine Drive, respectively. Union Ministers also joined events in Nagpur and Mumbai, advocating for yoga's role in promoting health and well-being.
