David Corenswet, poised to step into Superman's super suit for director James Gunn's forthcoming film, has opened up about the intricacies and discomforts of the iconic costume.
Speaking to People magazine, Corenswet remarked that maneuvering in the suit was no easy task, citing the absence of a convenient zipper for bathroom breaks as a major design flaw, despite the plethora of zippers adorning the costume.
The film's production team considered alternatives for easier access but ultimately abandoned them due to costs. Corenswet credited his dresser, Scotty, with ensuring smooth changes into and out of the suit, which became crucial for much-needed breaks during the shoot.
Reflecting on his initial experience of donning the suit, Corenswet described it as less exciting than expected because it arrived in pieces for the fitting. The actor also shared about the physical transformation he underwent, adding about 40 pounds of muscle, which presented added challenges in fitting into the tailor-made suit.
Despite feeling occasionally claustrophobic in the suit, Corenswet found camaraderie with Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane, and stressed the importance of their character dynamics in anchoring the story.
