Malayalam actor Joju George's allegations of unpaid remuneration for his cameo role in the 2021 film 'Churuli' have sparked controversy. Renowned director Lijo Jose Pellissery refuted these claims in a Facebook post, providing evidence of the payments made to George for his three-day work on the film.
Pellissery explained that the film's challenges, including an 'A' certificate and the Kerala High Court's objection to its use of expletives, hindered its theatrical release. Instead, it premiered on SonyLiv after its initial showing at the International Film Festival of Kerala.
George expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of his role and its subsequent impact on his public image, citing a lack of communication with the production team. Despite the disagreement, George affirmed his respect for Pellissery as a filmmaker.
