In preparation for the Kanwar Yatra, officials across the Meerut Range of Uttar Pradesh have laid out extensive security and logistical arrangements to facilitate a peaceful pilgrimage during the sacred month of Shravan. The annual event attracts thousands of devotees, who partake in the ritual of 'Jalabhishek' at local Shiva temples.
Measures include the installation of 119 security barriers along the 540-kilometer route, divided into zones and sectors for optimized management. Rest points and temporary camps provide support to pilgrims, while vigilant crowd control at major temples like Pura Mahadev and Augharnath ensures safety. Officials are also regulating traffic with alternative routes for vehicles.
To maintain order, disaster response teams are on standby, and a robust monitoring setup with CCTV and drones oversees the events. A social media unit keeps tabs on potential misinformation, and special provisions, including women police personnel and Lost and Found centers, support female pilgrims and address safety concerns.
