Controversy Over Religious Banner Removal in Pune
A banner displaying Iranian leaders in Loni Kalbhor, Pune, was removed due to missing local permission. Members of the Irani community had put up the banner during Muharram, but it was dismantled following complaints about the lack of gram panchayat approval, not due to its content.

A banner featuring images of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and former leader Ruhollah Khomeini was taken down in Loni Kalbhor, Pune, after authorities noted the absence of local authorization.
Members of the Irani community erected the display during the observance of Muharram, a revered time for the community.
The removal followed public complaints, not because of the banner's imagery, but due to procedural oversights regarding permissions from the gram panchayat, according to police sources.
