On Tuesday, Jammu witnessed a surge of pilgrims as the administration initiated on-the-spot registration for the Amarnath Yatra. The pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas launches on July 3, with options to traverse either the Nunwan-Pahalgam or the Baltal routes.
Officials have established multiple registration centers, including a special camp for sadhus at the Purani Mandi-based Ram temple complex. Over 300 sadhus have already arrived at the complex, and arrangements for boarding and lodging are underway. Enhanced security measures are in place, with 180 companies of CAPF deployed, ensuring a secure journey for all pilgrims.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will inaugurate the Yatra on July 2 from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp. With 106 lodgment centers set up, facilities are in place to support around 50,000 pilgrims. The air of anticipation among pilgrims reflects their deep spiritual commitment and enthusiasm for the sacred journey.
