In a bid to promote environmental conservation, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel spearheaded a tree plantation campaign on Tuesday at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University.

The initiative, coinciding with the first day of this year's Van Mahotsav festival, saw the ceremonial planting of rudraksha and red sandalwood saplings. The event, themed 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', aims to honor nature and motherhood, as articulated by Governor Patel in her address.

The campaign also involves creating a Miyawaki forest and a sandalwood grove on campus, as stressed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Poonam Tandon, who underscored the importance of sustaining such green initiatives for a clean and aesthetic university environment.
