The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) is opening its doors to its inaugural student body in August, presenting a series of industry-oriented courses across Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR). This initiative, disclosed by Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, at the Waves Summit, boasts collaborations with globally recognized industry leaders.

According to the institution's press release, the first academic term includes six specialized courses in Gaming, four in Post Production, and eight in Animation, Comics & XR. These programs have been developed in collaboration with leading industry stakeholders, ensuring students acquire relevant skills for a rapidly evolving creative technology field.

A significant milestone in its establishment occurred two weeks ago when IICT signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of York, UK, to facilitate collaborative research, faculty exchange, and global certification opportunities. The institute has also secured partnerships with tech giants like Google, YouTube, Adobe, Meta, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and JioStar to further enhance its offering.

These corporate collaborations aim to enrich curriculum development, provide scholarships and internships, support startup incubation, and ensure robust placement possibilities. Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT, expressed the institute's mission to position India as a global leader in the AVGC-XR sector by fostering globally competitive talent, yet maintaining India's unique creative vision.

IICT plans to reveal more about its courses in an upcoming curriculum announcement this month. The organization's leadership comprises distinguished figures such as Sanjay Jaju, Vikas Kharge, Swati Mhase, Chandrajit Banerjee, Bhupendra Kainthola, Ashish Kulkarni, Manvendra Shukul, and Rajan Navani, alongside COO Ninad Raikar.
