The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced plans to convert central Delhi's Mandi House into a vibrant art district, tapping into a rich cultural vein. The initiative seeks to emulate similar zones in the US, UK, and Japan, aiming for completion by the end of 2025.

Leading Indian sculptors, including Satish Gujral and Raghav Kaneria, will contribute imposing works ranging from 10 to 15 feet high. Other prominent names involved in the project are KS Radhakrishnan and the late Nagji Patel. The materials chosen for the sculptures—stainless steel, bronze, and stone—are selected to ensure longevity and sustainability.

In addition to the sculptural installations, NDMC has curated a full cultural calendar featuring an international painting symposium and a national sculpture symposium. Plans also include a Bhakti Sangeet classical music festival and an ancient tree identification drive, reaffirming the district's commitment to art and cultural promotion.
