Golshifteh Farahani to Receive Excellence Award at Locarno Film Festival

Iranian-French actress Golshifteh Farahani is set to be honored with the Excellence Award Davide Campari at the prestigious 2025 Locarno Film Festival. This distinction will be presented during the 78th edition's opening ceremony on August 6, in recognition of her outstanding career in cinema.

Farahani, celebrated for her roles in films such as 'Shirin' and 'Extraction,' will also showcase her latest film, 'Alpha.' Directed by Julia Ducournau, 'Alpha' premiered in May at Cannes' competitive section. Additionally, the actress will partake in a public conversation at the festival, further connecting with audiences.

Artistic director Giona A Nazzaro notes Farahani's remarkable ability to weave between arthouse projects and mainstream blockbusters, infusing each with unique aspects of her artistry. Her recognition alongside past recipients like Susan Sarandon and John Malkovich underscores her significance in contemporary cinema.
