A decades-old land dispute in Varanasi, centered around a 3,500 sq ft plot, has reached a harmonious resolution. For years, the ownership conflict over the plot, earmarked for both a Hanuman temple and a gurudwara, stood as a symbol of communal discord.
This week, members of both the Hindu and Sikh communities gathered to celebrate the resolution by sharing sweets and garlands. The land, which was sealed following the 1984 riots, hopes to represent unity in diversity with the construction of both religious establishments.
Sardar Karan Singh, president of the Gurudwara Management Committee, and Shyam Naryan Pandey, a representative from the Hindu side, affirmed the peaceful settlement, highlighting that collaboration and mutual understanding, rather than legal proceedings, led to this resolution.
