The Nishad Party of Uttar Pradesh, helmed by Fisheries Minister Sanjay Nishad, is set to commemorate Phoolan Devi's death anniversary. The party plans to honor women activists and engage in discussions about Devi's influence on social justice movements.

In a statement from Lucknow, Nishad lauded Devi for her courageous stand against injustice at a time when societal conditions were vastly different. He also criticized the Samajwadi Party, accusing them of unlawful occupation of Devi's property and demanding its return to her family.

Phoolan Devi, once known as the 'Bandit Queen', became a Member of Parliament after being imprisoned for her notorious activities, including the 1981 Behmai massacre. Her legacy is celebrated across districts as a testament to her transformation and enduring impact on women's rights.
