The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has voiced strong objections to what it describes as 'entertainment performances' at an event intended to honor the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur in Srinagar.
SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami stated that the singing and dancing elements of the commemoration, organized by the Punjab Government's Language Department, were a direct affront to Sikh religious values and the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Dhami called for a public apology from the Punjab Government, stressing the importance of adhering to Sikh traditions in such commemorations and cautioning against the government's involvement in organizing religious events.
