The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has passed a resolution urging the Indian government to release 'Bandi Singhs' in time for the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur. These prisoners, the SGPC claims, have been unjustly detained even after completing their sentences.
In a bid to commemorate the ninth Sikh Guru's legacy, the SGPC has approved establishing a 'Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Chair' at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. This initiative aims to conduct original research on the Guru's life and teachings.
Additionally, SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami has called for the reopening of the Kartarpur corridor, asserting its significance for Sikh devotees and emphasizing the shared cultural heritage it represents.
