Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stressed the importance of judicious development in the face of climate change, recognizing environmental preservation as pivotal. During the Van Mahotsav 2025 inauguration, Abdullah urged genuine afforestation efforts to yield substantial results, beyond mere statistics.

Chief Minister Abdullah highlighted the need to curb deforestation while promoting a collective movement towards afforestation. He called for a balance in development, advocating for the planting of trees to ensure environmental sustainability for future generations. He reinforced his government's commitment to extending the benefits of the Forest Rights Act to all beneficiaries.

Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology and Environment, Javed Ahmed Rana emphasized tribal responsibility in forest protection and detailed initiatives for their welfare. Highlighting the importance of sustainable tourism and youth-focused projects, Rana outlined developments under the Van Dhan Yojana and the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan.
