Aamir Khan is making waves in the film industry with his groundbreaking decision to release his latest sports drama 'Sitaare Zameen Par' directly on YouTube after its theatrical release. Starting August 1, the film will be available on YouTube Movies on demand, bypassing other digital platforms to maximize accessibility for audiences globally.
This bold strategy is designed to cater to audiences who lack access to cinemas or streaming services. Priced at Rs 100 in India, the film will be available in 38 other countries, including the US, UK, and Australia, with region-specific pricing to suit local markets.
In a press statement, Aamir Khan, who also produced the film, expressed his intent to reach audiences hindered by geographical or other constraints from attending theatres. He highlighted the significant growth in internet penetration and electronic payments, particularly in India, as factors enabling this release strategy. The film will include subtitles and dubbed versions in various languages to ensure global accessibility.
'Sitaare Zameen Par' is the sequel to the acclaimed 'Taare Zameen Par'. In this sports drama, Aamir portrays a basketball coach working with neurodivergent children. Featuring Genelia Deshmukh and directed by Prasanna, the film debuted in theatres on June 20. (ANI)
