In a move diverging from conventional film distribution, Aamir Khan has announced that his upcoming sports drama 'Sitaare Zameen Par' will be released on YouTube Movies, bypassing major OTT platforms. The release, set for August 1, aims to make the film accessible and affordable to a broad audience, with pricing set at Rs 100 in India and tailored to 38 other countries, including the US, UK, and Australia.
During a press event in Mumbai, Khan emphasized his goal of affordable cinema, stating, 'If a family of four watches the film for Rs 100, it's just Rs 25 per person. You can invite your neighbors too.' This strategic release model is expected to broaden the film's reach across India.
Khan, who expressed dissatisfaction with the traditional OTT model, is hoping this innovative distribution will resonate with audiences. The film, a sequel to the acclaimed 'Taare Zameen Par' featuring Khan as a basketball coach, will include subtitles and dubbed versions to appeal to international viewers. Directed by Prasanna, it also stars Genelia Deshmukh and premiered in theaters on June 20. (ANI)
