Authorities have announced a temporary suspension of the Amarnath Yatra starting from Jammu due to unfavorable weather conditions. The Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, cited heavy rainfall on the pilgrimage routes as the cause for this preventative measure.
The incessant rains have disrupted movement from the base camps located in Kashmir. Consequently, a decision was made to halt convoy travel from Jammu's Bhagwati Nagar to the base camps at Baltal and Nunwan.
Ramesh Kumar has assured that pilgrims will be regularly updated on the situation. Thus far, more than 3.93 lakh devotees have visited the sacred shrine. Despite the suspension, over 1300 pilgrims embarked on the journey to the base camps on Wednesday.
