Amid heavy rains, authorities have suspended the Amarnath Yatra on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes as well as any convoy movements from Jammu on Wednesday, a senior official confirmed.
In a decision taken due to persistent downpours since the early hours of Wednesday, pilgrims were barred from traveling from the Baltal and Nunwan/Chandanwari base camps, said Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri.
Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar reiterated that the weather conditions posed a significant risk, leading to the preventive suspension of the pilgrimage starting July 31, 2025, to ensure the safety of all involved.
