In a significant development, South Indian actor Prakash Raj was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for a detailed inquiry. The interrogation revolves around a money laundering case linked to illegal online betting and gambling platforms.
The actor, renowned in Telugu and Kannada films, was quizzed at the ED's zonal office. The agency has also summoned fellow actors, including Rana Daggubati, Vijay Deverakonda, and Lakshmi Manchu for similar questioning under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Allegations suggest these celebrities endorsed online betting apps, which are said to have amassed illicit funds worth crores. Despite their involvement in promotions, some stars claim ignorance regarding the apps' operations, denying any engagement in illegal activities.
