Pune's Historic Memorial Set for Major Revival
The Maharashtra Deputy CM has directed officials to start relocating people around Pune's Savitribai Phule memorial to facilitate its conservation and expansion. The project, also involving Mahatma Phule Wada, has a Rs 200 crore budget. Approximately 1,000 residents will be relocated in phases, beginning with 200 ready to move.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed officials to initiate the relocation of residents living near the Savitribai Phule memorial in Pune. This move precedes a significant effort to conserve and expand the site, highlighting its cultural and historical importance.
The redevelopment, which also includes the neighboring Mahatma Phule Wada, has been allocated a budget of Rs 200 crore. This funding will cover land acquisition and related activities, yet the initiative has not yet commenced.
During a review meeting, Pawar emphasized the urgency of starting the relocation, especially for the 200 residents who have expressed readiness to move to an alternate location. Approximately 1,000 residents will eventually need to be relocated in phases to facilitate the redevelopment.
