West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, is considering an increase in the financial grant given to Durga Puja committees this September, according to a source from the state secretariat.

A crucial meeting aimed at discussing this potential increment will be held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on Thursday. Banerjee is expected to engage with multiple Durga Puja committees from various parts of the state. Although there are no official confirmations yet, the grant is likely to be increased from Rs 75,000 to either Rs 85,000 or Rs 1 lakh.

The meeting will see the presence of representatives from all 5,000 Durga Puja committees across West Bengal. It will also be attended by senior police officers, Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim, ministers, and senior officers from the fire department and other agencies.
