Grandmaster Divya Deshmukh received a hero's welcome upon her return to India on Wednesday, following her victory at the Women's World Cup chess title in Batumi, Georgia. The 19-year-old chess prodigy was greeted with admiration by fans and well-wishers at the airport.

Divya made a significant mark in her budding career by defeating Indian chess veteran Koneru Humpy in the title showdown. Despite initially being an underdog, she surpassed expectations by winning the grand title through a tie-breaker, after both classical games ended in draws.
