In a tragic incident near the India-Nepal border, two young girls lost their lives after falling into a rainwater-filled pit at a railway construction site in the border town of Rupaidih. The accident occurred on Wednesday, officials confirmed.
Naina, aged 8, and Vaishnavi, aged 12, were playing near the site when they slipped into the pit, which was part of an ongoing railway project designed to connect Nepal. The excavation, located in Ramjanaki Ward Number 10, had filled with rainwater, turning into a deadly trap.
Despite the quick response from locals who pulled the girls out and rushed them to the hospital, they were pronounced dead on arrival. Authorities, including the Nanpara Sub-Divisional Magistrate Lal Dhar Yadav and Tehsildar Ambika Prasad, are investigating the incident, with post-mortem examinations underway.
