Renowned Malayalam rapper Vedan, also known as Hirandas Murali, faces serious allegations once again, as a lady doctor has accused him of rape over multiple instances spanning from 2021 to 2023, according to police reports on Thursday.
The Thrikkakara police station lodged an FIR under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code against Vedan late on Wednesday, a senior police officer confirmed. This accusation adds to his growing list of legal challenges.
Vedan's history with the law includes past allegations involving drug possession and unauthorized wildlife artefacts. In April, he was arrested on drug charges but later released on bail. The Forest Department also booked him regarding a leopard tooth found in his possession. Additionally, he faced accusations from a BJP leader earlier this year over claims that his music defames Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and incites caste-based division.
