In an effort to tackle overcrowding and enhance traffic management, tourists visiting Mussoorie are now required to register their details on a newly developed portal by the Uttarakhand Tourism Department. The rule, effective from Wednesday, mandates tourists to log their information at the time of check-in.

District Tourism Officer Brijendra Pandey confirmed the new regulation's implementation, stating that this move aims to address the near doubling of tourist numbers between 2022 and 2024. Hotels, guesthouses, and homestays must first register on the portal before tracking guest check-ins.

The strategy will provide authorities with real-time data on tourist footfall, assisting in better resource management. Compliance with this new rule is expected from hotel owners and similar facility operators. The National Green Tribunal had suggested such measures back in May, urging regular data submission from the state government.
