In a significant move to enhance its coastal hygiene, Goa has expanded its beach cleaning operations, extending the scope to more locations and augmenting the workforce.

Under the leadership of Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, the budget for beach cleaning rose from Rs 70 crore to Rs 90 crore, accommodating more comprehensive coverage and increased operational hours.

Now covering 50 beaches, with workforce enhancements from 322 to 525 cleaners, the initiative also encourages participation from self-help groups, aligning with the government's inclusive approach.
