Producer Lynette Howell Taylor has taken up the helm as the new president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), as reported by Variety. She succeeds Janet Yang, marking a new chapter for the Academy.

Howell Taylor is the fifth woman to assume this role, joining the ranks of Janet Yang, Fay Kanin, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, and Bette Davis. Her tenure as president comes during her second term representing the Producers Branch on the Board of Governors, a position Variety confirms she is well-versed in.

Transitioning into her new position, Howell Taylor has a commendable track record, including her three-year role as vice president and Awards Committee chair.
