Shanawas, a renowned Malayalam film and television actor, passed away at the age of 71 on Monday night. Family sources confirmed his death following a period of prolonged health issues.
The son of the legendary actor Prem Nazir, Shanawas made his debut in the cinema world with the Balachandra Menon-directed film 'Premageethangal'. Throughout his illustrious career, he featured in over 50 films, with notable roles in movies like 'Mazhanilavu', 'Neelagiri', 'Manithali', 'Gaanam', and 'Aazhi'. He also made his mark in television serials.
After a hiatus, Shanawas returned to the spotlight with a role in the Mohanlal-starrer 'China Town' and last appeared in the 2022 blockbuster 'Janaganamana'. His demise was mourned by figures such as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, General Education Minister V Sivankutty, and senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala, who paid their respects.
