Oscar-nominated Irish actor Colin Farrell will be honored with the Golden Icon Award at the 20th Zurich Film Festival (ZFF), according to an announcement made by the festival organizers on Monday. The event takes place from September 25 to October 5.

Farrell, famous for roles in films like 'Miami Vice', 'Minority Report', and 'The Batman', will be celebrated in a gala event on September 27, where he will present 'Ballad of a Small Player', his latest film with director Edward Berger. The film, adapted from Lawrence Osborne's novel, explores the tense world of a gambler in Macau.

In addition to receiving the award, Farrell will lead a ZFF Masters session. Festival director Christian Jungen praised Farrell as a dynamic actor, adept in a variety of roles. Farrell expressed his excitement about the recognition and his upcoming visit to Zurich.
