Dahi Handi Festivities in Thane: Injuries Amidst Pyramids

During the vibrant Dahi Handi celebrations in Thane, three participants, referred to as 'govindas', met with injuries as they attempted to form human pyramids, a key feature of the festival where butter pots are broken.
The injured have been admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, according to Yasin Tadvi of the Thane Municipal Corporation Disaster Management Cell. Among the injured, Aditya Raghunath Verma, 18, suffered a head injury. Thirteen-year-old Krishna Mithu Swayan from Mumbra sustained an injury to her right hand, and Samar Bansilal Rajbhar, 10, was also admitted with a head injury, sparking concerns, as the law prohibits those below 14 from participating.
No injuries were reported at the District Government Hospital. The Dahi Handi celebration, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, involves groups forming human pyramids to break the dahi handis, pots of curd, symbolizing unity and community spirit.
