Mumbai's vibrant 'Dahi Handi' festival took a somber turn as two individuals lost their lives amid celebrations. A 14-year-old boy, Rohan Mohan Malvi, who was part of the Gaondevi Govinda Pathak, passed away after he fell unconscious in Andheri East.
Earlier, a 32-year-old man, identified as Jagmohan Shivkiran Chaudhari, fell while tying a 'Dahi Handi' in Mankhurd. He was declared dead on arrival at Shatabdi Govandi Hospital. The festival is celebrated across Maharashtra to honor the birth of Lord Krishna.
A total of 95 participants were injured during the festivities, with two individuals in serious condition and the majority since discharged after treatment. The event, characterized by human pyramids aiming to break suspended pots of curd, saw varying injury counts across the city's regions.
