Ten fishermen were successfully rescued, but the fate of eight others remains uncertain after two boats overturned in the turbulent Arabian Sea near Gujarat's Amreli district. Officials attributed the incident to harsh weather conditions.
Efforts are underway to locate the missing fishermen with assistance from local fishermen and the Coast Guard, according to Mehul Barasara, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Rajula.
The boats, each carrying nine crew members, capsized roughly 19 nautical miles off Jafrabad town at about 6 pm. Although rough seas are hampering the use of helicopters, search teams continue their mission with available boats.
