Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leading Congress figures paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on Wednesday, celebrating his 81st birth anniversary. Modi recognized Rajiv Gandhi's contributions, saying, 'On his birth anniversary today, my tributes to former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji.'
The All India Congress Committee held a commemorative event at Gandhi's memorial, Vir Bhumi, attended by senior leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, K C Venugopal, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. They collectively remembered Gandhi's vision, which led India into the 21st century through initiatives like reducing the voting age and enhancing IT and telecom infrastructure.
Priyanka Gandhi expressed her admiration by recalling the values of compassion, love, and patriotism inherited from Rajiv Gandhi. She affirmed, 'We both will follow this religion forever. No one will be able to break us, no one will be able to stop us, nor will our steps ever falter.'
