Westland Books has announced an exciting opportunity for artists with the launch of 'The India Comics Project.' This new initiative focuses on adapting classic Indian stories into comic book format and is set to publish 24 original comics between 2026 and 2027.
The project, a collaboration with the French Embassy and the French Institute in India, aims to bridge cultural divides by bringing Indian narratives to a wider audience. The initiative will celebrate India's rich linguistic and artistic traditions through a modern, visual storytelling method.
Artists can submit portfolios in PDF format that showcase their creative talent. Selected artists will benefit from training by French and Indian experts to hone their skills. Westland plans to reveal more details about the imprint later, while a panel of experts, including Simon Lamouret and Appupen, will review submissions.
