Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has voiced strong criticism against the Mamata-led government following disruptions at the trailer launch of his upcoming film 'The Bengal Files' in Kolkata. Agnihotri alleges that the interruption, which halted the screening of the trailer, was premeditated, citing the involvement of top officials in the incident.
The event, held at the ITC Royal Bengal on August 16, was reportedly running smoothly until the visuals stopped abruptly. Agnihotri, in an interview with ANI, described the impossibility of halting such a large-scale event involving 150-200 attendees and media without official interference. He was informed that objections had been raised by authorities regarding certain parts of the trailer.
The director disclosed his challenges in securing venues for the launch, mentioning cancellations at multiplexes due to potential political repercussions. Despite these obstacles, Agnihotri remains hopeful that the film will release as planned, trusting India's legal framework to support his cause.
