Bombay High Court to Review Film on Yogi Adityanath Amid Censor Board Objections

The Bombay High Court has stepped into the controversy surrounding a film based on the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had refused to certify the film, citing several objections, including the absence of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Chief Minister's office.

In a session on Thursday, Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Neela Gokhale agreed to consider the filmmakers' petition after viewing the film themselves. They directed the filmmakers to provide a copy, highlighting scenes the CBFC found problematic. A copy of the book that inspired the movie has already been submitted to the court.

Senior counsel for the filmmakers, Ravi Kadam, argued that the CBFC's refusal impinged on their fundamental rights, asserting that the board exceeded its authority by requesting an NOC. The court has scheduled the next hearing for August 25, where these issues will be further examined.
