In a significant move, Poland's President has vetoed a bill that would have continued financial support to Ukraine for its Starlink subscription. This decision comes into effect from October 1, leaving Ukraine potentially without crucial satellite communication access funded by Poland.
The bill, initially extended assistance until the end of March next year, forming part of the Ukraine Aid Fund. However, the veto nullifies this extension, causing an immediate funding halt. Marek Gieorgica, spokesperson for the digital affairs ministry, confirmed there is no current legal basis to extend funding beyond the original scope.
This development poses critical challenges for Ukraine, which has relied heavily on the satellite communications facilitated by Starlink, especially amidst ongoing regional tensions and conflicts.
