Paul Walter Hauser Joins Star-Studded Cast for New 'Resident Evil' Film

Paul Walter Hauser, known for his roles in 'Naked Gun' and 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps,' is set to join the cast of director Zach Cregger's anticipated 'Resident Evil' movie, reported The Hollywood Reporter. Hauser will star alongside Austin Abrams in Sony Pictures' reboot of the beloved franchise, which is slated for release on September 18, 2026. The film takes inspiration from the acclaimed video game series that focuses on an elite team's fight against zombies.

Zach Cregger, who recently achieved box-office success with Warner Bros.' 'Weapons,' will direct and co-write 'Resident Evil' with screenwriter Shay Hatten. While exact plot details remain under wraps, the film is set to be produced by Constantin Film's Robert Kulzer, Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee, and PlayStation Productions' Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan. The production will be supervised by Nicole Brown, president of TriStar Pictures, ensuring a high-caliber cinematic experience.

Launched in 2002, the 'Resident Evil' film series has grossed over USD 1.2 billion globally. Reflecting on his career choices, Hauser shared his approach towards project selection. "I feel way too competitive and way too hungry to eat garnish and pretend it's a meal," he told The Hollywood Reporter. Hauser emphasized his preference for waiting for the right roles, aiming to avoid regrets and ensure performance quality.
