On Saturday, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria initiated a major relief effort by flagging off seven trucks laden with essential supplies destined for families stricken by recent floods. The gesture unfolded at the Baba Mohan Dass Ashram, underscoring a widespread community spirit within the region.
Governor Kataria remarked that despite Punjab being severely impacted by the floods, the resilience and communal service demonstrated by its residents have set a prestigious benchmark in humanitarian assistance. He highlighted the unparalleled level of unity and support witnessed in Punjab, differentiating it from any other region in the country.
The event saw particular recognition for the Baba Mohan Dass Trust, which has consistently been a vanguard in offering humanitarian aid, educational, and religious support. The floods, worsened by rains in the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers' catchment areas, primarily hit Gurdaspur, Amritsar, and other districts.
