Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay publicly criticized the DMK government on Saturday, accusing it of enforcing numerous restrictions on his political gatherings. He challenged the government, questioning if similar constraints would be imposed during visits by the Prime Minister or Home Minister.
At a large rally in Puthur, Vijay complained about the government's interference with his movement and alleged deliberate power cuts. He argued that such enforcement would backfire if applied to national leaders. Addressing the crowd, he emphasized a direct political contest between TVK and DMK in the upcoming 2026 elections, drawing enthusiastic support from attendees.
Vijay also criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's international trips, questioning their true purpose concerning state investment. He pointed to the government's negligence in coastal Nagapattinam and critiqued the handling of fisherman and Sri Lankan Tamils' issues. In response to political criticism, Vijay clarified the rationale behind the timing of his political rallies.
